The free, four day water safety education initiative is designed for adults who cannot swim or lack confidence in the water.
Participants learn practical safety awareness and essential skills to help them stay safe in and around pools, rivers and coastal environments.
Blacktown City Mayor Brad Bunting said: “Blacktown City Council introduced the Swim Sense program several years ago in response to the growing concern around adult drowning rates.
“Learning how to be safe in and around water is essential at every stage of life, regardless of age or background.”
Swim Sense will run from Monday 19 January 2026 to Thursday 22 January 2026 at Blacktown Leisure Centre Stanhope, Blacktown Aquatic Centre, and Charlie Lowles Leisure Centre Emerton.
Swim Sense is part of a broader range of water safety initiatives delivered across Council’s aquatic and leisure centres, including the award-winning Aqua Learn to Swim program, multilingual safety signage and announcements, and free access to life jackets.
