Cr Israel, who lives in Woodcroft, was first elected to Council in 2016 and represents Ward 3.
Cr Israel said she was honoured to take on the role.
“I am proud to serve the people of Blacktown City. This is a vibrant, diverse and growing city, and I will continue to work to help shape its future, ensuring we have the facilities, open spaces and opportunities that every resident needs,” she said.
Council acknowledged the contribution of outgoing Deputy Mayor Councillor Bob Fitzgerald, who served the city over the past 12 months.
