Quakers Hill comes alive with colour
HOLII, a festival of colour celebrating happiness and diversity in the community is the centre of attraction this Saturday at Quakers Hill.

Every family in Blacktown City and surrounding suburbs is invited to join the festivity at Mihkelson Reserve opening from noon till 6pm.

Blacktown City mayor Tony Bleasdale OAM urged everyone to join their fellow residents in vibrant Quakers Hill he described as “a wonderfully diverse community, it is fitting that we celebrate the Festival of Colour with this neighbourhood at this time of Holi.”

“Holi is a festival of colour, happiness and a celebration of the diversity of our community, as the world continues to navigate through challenging times,” Clr Bleasdale said.

“The spirit of Holi reminds us of the importance of coming together in celebration, regardless of our differences.”

Entry is free, and events are a kaleidoscope of cultural activities and entertainment for all.

The event will host food trucks, market stalls, community groups, cultural performances, plenty of Bollywood performances, kids’ rides and arts and craft.

The highlight of the festival will be staged at 3pm as residents make their iconic colour throw, which is meant to spread happiness through colour.

Holi Festival is celebrated across Sydney every March as a gathering of people from all backgrounds and beliefs singing and dancing together around a bonfire just before sunset.

The festival originated in India to welcome spring, a thanksgiving for bountiful harvest and new beginnings.

Everyone joining the festival should visit the information stall at the entry to grab their coloured powders so they can take part in the colour throw.

Mihkelson Reserve is located at Maslin Crescent, Quakers Hill NSW 2763
