Whether it is a family-owned café, a retailer on Main Street, a local tradie, or a restaurant sharing food and culture from around the world, small businesses help make North West Sydney the vibrant and welcoming place we are proud to call home.
The recent Blacktown City Local Business Awards was an important opportunity to celebrate the outstanding businesses and entrepreneurs helping drive our local economy.
Congratulations to this year’s winners and finalists and thank you for the significant contribution you make to our community.
As your local Member, I have had the privilege of visiting countless local small businesses across our community.
I have met business owners from all walks of life and every corner of the globe, each with their own story.
I am proud to represent a community with such a strong entrepreneurial spirit, and I am proud to be part of a government that is backing small businesses to create jobs and help our economy grow.
In the 2026-27 Budget, our Government is delivering $3.5B in new business tax relief designed to support resilience, investment and growth.
This includes making the $20,000 instant asset write-off permanent to give businesses greater certainty to invest and grow, and a permanent two year loss carry back for companies with turnover of up to $1B from 1 July 2026.
We are also introducing loss refundability to help start ups grow in their first two years and ensuring 1.5 million sole traders benefit from our $250 tax offset from 2027-28.
These measures build on our broader efforts to support small businesses, including cutting red tape, providing fuel excise relief, reducing the heavy vehicle road user charge, helping businesses get paid on time, protecting them from unfair practices and supporting them through challenging economic conditions.
Small businesses are at the heart of our community, and our Government is committed to ensuring they have the support they need to continue thriving for years to come.
