Tallawong youngster’s message of kindness reaches global audience

TONY BOSWORTH
AT a time when public discourse seems all too often to be shouted and argumentative, there’s a refreshing take from a local six-year-old Tallawong student.

Misha Magwin has turned a simple notebook of ideas into a published children’s book about kindness that is already resonating with readers around the world.

Misha Magwin, a Year 1 student at Australian Christian College in Marsden Park, has authored Lilly’s Garden of Kindness, a story inspired by her reflections on empathy, helping others, and building stronger communities.

What began as part of her regular reading and writing practice quickly evolved into something more meaningful.
Misha started jotting down thoughts about kindness in a small notebook, developing ideas that would eventually form the foundation of her book.

The result is a brightly illustrated children’s story that encourages young readers to care for others, support their community and practise compassion in everyday life.

Now published on Amazon, Lilly’s Garden of Kindness is already attracting positive feedback from readers both in Australia and overseas - an impressive achievement for any author, let alone one so young.

Misha’s parents, Alok and Sushma, said they were amazed to see her ideas grow into a finished book.

“We are incredibly proud of Misha,” they said. “What started as a simple notebook of her thoughts has turned into something meaningful that can inspire other children to be kind and compassionate.

“This journey reflects not just her creativity, but also the values nurtured through her school and community.”

The book’s message is simple but powerful - small acts of kindness can make a big difference. Through her storytelling,

Misha hopes other children will be inspired to show empathy and support those around them.

With her first book now reaching a global audience, Misha has already shown that age is no barrier to making a meaningful contribution, and as her story continues to spread, her message is clear - kindness matters, and even the smallest voice can inspire change.
