BLACKTOWN'S WORLD CUP LIVE SITES

Fan festivities, food trucks and more
BE part of football’s biggest showpiece and enjoy free activities and action on the big screen at the World Cup Live Site at Blacktown Football Park, Rooty Hill.

Blacktown City Council and Blacktown District Soccer Football Association are working together to help our thriving football community celebrate the tournament.

The first game to be shown at the Eastern Road site will be the Socceroos’ World Cup opener against Turkey on Sunday 14 June at 2 pm.

Blacktown City Mayor Brad Bunting encouraged everyone to make the live site a carnival atmosphere.

“Many girls, boys, women and men play and watch football across Blacktown City, so we want to give families a safe place to come together and share the thrill of FIFA World Cup action,” he said.

“Football is the world game and what better place to celebrate than in our community, which draws strength from people of more than 180 cultural backgrounds.”

The live site opening will offer free children’s activities, a street soccer cage, and food trucks to keep fans well fed during the action.

Blacktown District Soccer Football Association General Manager Owen Liiv was looking forward to the action.

“We’re excited to host Blacktown City Council’s Live Site and all that goes with it at our home ground,” he said.

“The FIFA World Cup is a special occasion that brings people together to celebrate football.

“I can’t wait to see the Socceroos in action, and hope that the Live Site creates the big game atmosphere that we see in so many other cities around the world during the tournament.”

Fans attending any of the screenings can enjoy a meal before or after the match at Parklands Café inside the nearby Blacktown Exercise Sports and Technology Hub.
