The independent assessments evaluate facilities against national safety benchmarks, including operational procedures, risk management and staff training.
Three Council-operated venues were assessed, with all three achieving strong results.
Riverstone Swimming Centre recorded a score of 98%, while Blacktown Leisure Centre Stanhope and Charlie Lowles Leisure Centre Emerton both achieved 99%.
These results show residents can feel confident their local pools and leisure centres are safe places to swim, exercise, learn water safety skills and spend time with family, Blacktown City Mayor Brad Bunting said.
“Feeling safe matters. It shapes how people experience the places they use every day," Mayor Bunting said.
“Our aquatic centres are part of everyday life for many families across Blacktown, whether they’re learning to swim, staying active or spending time together.
“Safety must come first at our aquatic centres. These are places where children learn to swim, families spend time together and residents of all ages stay active.
“I want people to know our teams take that responsibility seriously,” Mayor Bunting said.
Council continues to invest in staff training, supervision and safety systems to ensure its aquatic and leisure centres remain safe and welcoming places for residents and visitors to swim, exercise, learn water safety skills, rehabilitate and enjoy recreational activities.
Blacktown City’s remaining aquatic and leisure centres were not assessed as Blacktown Aquatic Centre is scheduled for redevelopment later this year, while upgrades at Mount Druitt Swimming Centre are already underway.
As Blacktown continues to grow, Council says it remains committed to maintaining high safety standards across all facilities while delivering upgrades that support the needs of the community.
