A photographer who runs his own business, Mr Kirby won the seat previously held by retiring Liberal MP Kevin Conolly who had won the seat in 2011 with a massive swing of 30 per cent. He was re-elected in 2015 and 2019.
This election saw a 10-pc swing to Labor. Mr Kirby grew up in Schofields, raised his family in Riverstone, and now lives in Quakers Hill.
As Vice President of the North West Business Chamber, Mr Kirby advocated for better infrastructure and services.
Mr Kirby has hit the ground running, saying he has already had meetings with senior ministers in the new government “to get things moving” for Riverstone.
“I am quite conscious of the weight of expectation to represent the Riverstone electorate,” he told the Blacktown News.
“It has been neglected for so long and that was reflected in the polls.”
In Blacktown, Stephen Bali was re-elected to the seat he first took in 2017.
A former mayor of Blacktown, Mr Bali is so proud of his area, he once organised a protest of 10 council garbage trucks outside SBS headquarters after the broadcaster aired a story uncomplimentary to Mt Druitt.
He also serves as the Chairman of the Better Foundation , a charity created in 2016 which operates in the Blacktown and Mount Druitt area specifically to raise funds for Blacktown Hospital and Mount Druitt Hospital for equipment, training, and other resources that the former State Government's budget did not fund.
In the April edition The Blacktown News will publish a feature on Warren Kirby.
