NEW GREEN LINKS AT PARKLANDS

Blacktown International Sports Park connected
MORE than $6M in major works connecting Western Sydney Parklands to Blacktown International Sports Park have been completed at Bungarribee Park, Blacktown.
The works include a landmark yellow crossing over the Easten Creek, known as the Northern Bridge, connecting to the 2.3km Hearts Crossing Loop, which is part of the wider 60km Western Sydney Parklands walking and cycling network.

“Our vision is for a city within a park, where people can walk or cycle to world-class public green spaces with ease,” Mr Stokes said.

“The new works at Bungarribee mean locals will be better connected to one of Sydney’s finest public spaces which has picnic shelters, one of Sydney’s best playgrounds and a massive off-leash dog park.

“We’ve also now planted more than 60,000 trees across the Western Sydney Parklands network, including thousands of native wildflowers as part of the Parklands’ Cumberland Plain regeneration project.”

Greater Sydney Parklands CEO Suellen Fitzgerald said the new works were part of wider investment across the Western Sydney Parklands network.

“The 200-hectare Bungarribee Park is the largest recreational space to be created in Sydney since the construction of Bicentennial Park,” Ms Fitzgerald said.

“This is the realisation of the Bungarribee Park Masterplan, transforming empty paddocks into award-winning world-class green open space.”

The NSW Government has invested $20M in Bungarribee Park to date.
